In June 2017, Cissy was elected to represent District 8. During her time on council, Rep. Lizarraga has
ensured the completion of projects that have created jobs and contributed to the quality of life, namely
the opening of Top Golf and the brand-new Westside Natatorium fifty-meter pool. In her next term,
Cissy will continue to focus on projects that are a continued priority for District 8 – the Chamizal
Community Center and the Paseo De Las Luces.
Cissy has maintained a strong commitment to her district by providing the following:
- Accountable and ethical leadership
- Improved streets while protecting District 8 neighborhoods from disruptive development
- Supported Public Safety improvements to ensure faster response times from our police officers
Above all, Cissy has made herself accessible to her constituents including the elderly and those with
limited transportation by regularly visiting community centers and other neighborhood meetings.
The El Paso Times endorsed Cissy’s candidacy in 2017, stating that “El Paso faces many challenges in the
coming months and years. Our national and state leaders have created a false perception about El Paso
and other border communities. Fighting back against this mischaracterization…(is) the key to assuring
that El Paso has every opportunity to flourish.”
